A salary certificate (شهادة راتب or خطاب راتب) is an official letter issued by an employer on company letterhead, confirming that a specific person is employed by the company and stating their monthly salary and allowances. It is one of the most frequently requested documents by banks, landlords, and government offices in Saudi Arabia.

| Car Financing (Murabaha / Ijara) | Banks, SAMA-licensed financiers | Net salary, job stability, employment duration |
| Home Finance (Murabaha / Musharaka) | Banks | Gross salary, contract type, years of service |
| Apartment Rental | Landlords, real estate companies | Monthly salary (should be 3–4x monthly rent) |
| Family / Dependent Visa | Jawazat (Immigration) | Salary must meet minimum threshold (SAR 4,000+) |
| Embassy / Consulate | Pakistani, Indian, Filipino, Egyptian embassies | Employment status, salary, leave permission |

To sponsor family members on a dependent visa in Saudi Arabia, the expat worker must earn a minimum monthly salary of SAR 4,000 (basic + housing). Each additional dependent requires the salary threshold to be met. Use our dependent levy calculator to estimate your full family cost.
Most Saudi banks and landlords accept salary certificates issued within the last 30–90 days. For visa applications, embassies typically require a certificate dated within the last 3 months. For court or legal purposes, recency requirements vary. Always request a fresh certificate when in doubt — most HR departments issue them within 1–2 working days.
This tool generates a professionally formatted salary certificate template. For official bank submission, the certificate must be printed on your company's actual letterhead (with the company logo and address pre-printed), then signed by an authorized signatory and stamped with the company seal. The generated certificate provides the correct format and wording — your HR simply needs to transfer it to official letterhead and stamp/sign it.
A salary certificate (شهادة راتب) specifically states the employee's salary and allowances. An employment letter (خطاب عمل) confirms employment status but may not include salary details. Banks always need the salary certificate — the employment letter alone is not sufficient for loan applications.
There is no official minimum, but landlords and real estate companies typically expect your monthly salary to be at least 3–4 times the monthly rent. So for an apartment renting at SAR 3,000/month, you would typically need a salary of SAR 9,000–12,000/month. Some landlords also accept rent-to-income ratios of 25–33%.
For use within Saudi Arabia (banks, landlords, government offices), an Arabic-only certificate is fully acceptable. For embassy or foreign consulate submissions (e.g. to obtain a Pakistani, Indian or Filipino passport service), an English certificate or a bilingual certificate is preferred. Our generator produces an English certificate with Arabic elements built in.
Your employer is legally obligated to provide employment-related documentation. If your employer refuses, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources at hrsd.gov.sa or call 19911. You can also request a letter from the GOSI system via Absher showing your registered salary — this is accepted by some banks as an alternative proof of income.
