This calculator uses the official 2026 Saudi government fee structure. Here is what each component means:
This is the fee paid to the Ministry of Interior (MOI) for issuing the family residence visa. If you apply for your entire family (wife + all children) in one application at the same time, this is a flat fee of SAR 2,000 for the whole family. If a family member already has an Iqama and you add a new dependent separately (e.g. a newborn child added months later), the SAR 2,000 fee applies per new dependent.
Each family member gets their own Iqama card. The printing fee is SAR 200 per card. This is separate from the visa fee and is paid when the Iqama is issued after your family arrives and completes biometrics at Jawazat.
Health insurance is mandatory for all Iqama holders and their dependents in Saudi Arabia. It must be active before the Iqama can be issued. Costs vary by class — Class C (basic) starts at SAR 1,200/year per person. The insurance must be renewed annually.
The dependent levy is a monthly fee charged by the Saudi government for each expatriate dependent (spouse or child) living in Saudi Arabia. It was introduced in 2017 as part of Vision 2030. The levy is SAR 400 per dependent per month. The first 90 days after arrival are free — the levy only begins from day 91 onwards.
Attestation costs depend on your home country and how many documents need to be attested. The figures in this calculator are estimates. Actual costs may vary based on whether you use a service agent or go directly through official channels.
If you apply for your entire family at once (in one Istiqdam application), the SAR 2,000 is a flat fee for the whole family regardless of how many members. However, if you add a dependent separately later (e.g. a baby born after your wife already has her Iqama), that new dependent will cost SAR 2,000 individually. Always try to include all dependents in one application to save costs.
The dependent levy begins 90 days after your family member first arrives in Saudi Arabia. The first 3 months (90 days) are exempt. After that, SAR 400 per dependent per month is charged and must be paid at each Iqama renewal. This is why the first year's levy in this calculator is 9 months (not 12).
No. Health insurance is a completely separate cost from the visa fee. For a family residence visa, you must purchase health insurance independently from an approved Saudi insurer (such as Bupa Arabia, Tawuniya, or MedGulf). It must be active before the Iqama can be issued and renewed annually.
No — they are very different. A family visit visa costs SAR 300–380 base fee per person plus health insurance (~SAR 300–800). A family residence visa costs SAR 2,000 for the family application plus ongoing dependent levy of SAR 400/month per person. The visit visa is much cheaper but only allows a 90-day stay. The residence visa is expensive upfront but allows your family to live permanently in Saudi Arabia.
