Complete step-by-step guide to check your Saudi Arabia visa validity, Iqama status, and exit re-entry permission online. Free, no login required.
The Muqeem system is the official Saudi government portal for residence and visa status. Use the steps below to check your status on the official site — this guide walks you through it clearly.
Click the correct portal for your check type:
There are two ways to check your visa validity in Saudi Arabia — through the Muqeem portal or through Absher. Both are official government systems.
Visit muqeem.sa on your phone or computer. The site works in both Arabic and English — look for the language toggle at the top right.
On the main menu, click "Visa Validity" (or "صلاحية التأشيرة" in Arabic). This is different from the Iqama renewal section.
Type your 10-digit Iqama number in the field. Then confirm with either your date of birth or passport number (depending on which you have ready).
Enter the security code shown on screen, then press Submit / بحث. Results appear within seconds.
The result will show: visa type, expiry date, exit re-entry status, and whether your visa is currently active. Take a screenshot for your records.
Download from App Store or Google Play, or visit absher.sa. Login with your National Access Number (رقم النفاذ الوطني) or Iqama number + OTP.
Navigate to My Services → Residence Services → Iqama Details. Your visa validity, Iqama expiry, and sponsorship info are all shown here.
Under "Exit and Re-entry Visa" in Absher, you can see if an exit visa is currently active and when it expires. This is separate from your Iqama validity.
Muqeem (مقيم) is the official Saudi government system for managing residence permits (Iqamas) and visa status for expatriates. It is operated by the Ministry of Interior (Jawazat) and is the authoritative source for all visa-related information in Saudi Arabia.
Every expatriate worker in Saudi Arabia has a visa record in Muqeem. Checking your Muqeem status tells you:
Many expats confuse Muqeem and Iqama. Here's the simple explanation:
| Term | What It Is | How to Check |
|---|---|---|
| Iqama | Your physical residency permit card — the ID you carry in your wallet | Look at the card. Use our Iqama Tracker to calculate days remaining |
| Muqeem | The online government database / portal that holds your visa and residency data | Visit muqeem.sa or Absher |
| Exit Re-entry Visa | A separate permission allowing you to leave KSA and come back on the same visa | Check in Absher under "Exit Visa" |
| Visa Type | Arabic | Who Has It | Exit Re-entry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Work Visa | تأشيرة عمل | Expat employees sponsored by a Saudi company | Requires exit re-entry visa from sponsor |
| Family/Dependent Visa | تأشيرة تابع | Spouse and children sponsored by a worker | Requires sponsor permission to travel |
| Exit Only Visa | تأشيرة خروج نهائي | Workers leaving KSA permanently | No return — one-way exit |
| Exit Re-entry (Single) | خروج وعودة مفرد | Worker traveling abroad and returning once | Valid for one trip, specific duration |
| Exit Re-entry (Multiple) | خروج وعودة متعدد | Workers with multiple travel permission | Multiple trips allowed in validity period |
| Visit Visa | تأشيرة زيارة | Short-term visitors, tourists | Must leave by expiry, no Iqama issued |
If your Muqeem check shows Expired, it means your Iqama has passed its expiry date and has not been renewed. This situation has serious consequences:
Muqeem (muqeem.sa) is a public-facing portal where you can check visa validity using just your Iqama number and date of birth — no account needed. Absher is the full government services app that requires login but gives more detailed information including exit visa status, sponsor details, and service requests. Use Muqeem for a quick check; use Absher for full management of your residency.
You can only check a status using an Iqama number and the matching date of birth or passport number. Employers can check their employees' status through their Muqeem business account (منشآت). Family members may check dependent status if they have the required details.
This usually means your employer has not yet processed the renewal in the Muqeem system, even if they paid the fee. Ask your HR/PRO for the renewal receipt and the new Iqama print. If the system isn't updated within a few days of renewal payment, visit the nearest Jawazat office with your paperwork.
After renewal payment via SADAD, the Muqeem system typically updates within 24–72 hours. Absher updates usually reflect faster (sometimes within hours). If it doesn't update within 3 business days, contact Jawazat.
No. You need both a valid Iqama AND a valid exit re-entry visa to travel outside Saudi Arabia and return. If your exit re-entry visa has expired but your Iqama is valid, you must apply for a new exit re-entry visa through your employer before travelling.
Call the Jawazat (Directorate General of Passports) on 920020820 for Iqama and residency inquiries. For Ministry of Human Resources (labour issues), call 19911. Both services have Arabic and English support.
