Check a Saudi visa on the official MOFA, Absher and Muqeem portals using your visa application number or passport number, and understand what each status means.
Saudi Arabia offers several official portals for checking a visa, and the right one depends on what you hold. Use only government websites โ none of them ask for payment to display a visa status.
| What you want to check | Official portal | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Visit, work or family visa issued abroad | visa.mofa.gov.sa | Visa application number or passport number |
| Residency (Iqama) and dependants | muqeem.sa | Iqama number and date of birth |
| Exit / re-entry visa status | absher.sa | Absher login |
| Umrah or Hajj permit | Nusuk | Nusuk account |
| Border entry/exit records | absher.sa | Absher login |
1. Open visa.mofa.gov.sa and choose the visa enquiry service.
2. Select "Visa Application Number" as the search type.
3. Enter the application number from your visa slip and your date of birth.
4. Enter the image code and submit. The result shows the visa type, sponsor, issue and expiry dates and the number of entries.
Select "Passport Number", enter the passport number exactly as printed, choose the nationality, add the image code and submit.
Open muqeem.sa, enter the Iqama number and date of birth, and review the residency validity, sponsor and dependant records.
The visa has been printed and is valid for travel within the stated period. Check both the visa validity and the permitted duration of stay โ they are different dates.
The visa has already been used for entry. A single-entry visa cannot be used again after this status appears.
The sponsor or the issuing mission cancelled the visa. A new application is required.
The validity window has passed without entry. Expired visas cannot be extended abroad; a fresh application is needed.
Usually a data-entry problem โ check the application number, the nationality selection and the date format before assuming a problem with the visa itself.
Official Saudi visa checks are always free. Treat any site that charges a fee, asks for a bank OTP, or requests a WhatsApp message to "confirm" a visa as fraudulent. Government portals use the .gov.sa or .sa domain and never contact applicants to request payment outside SADAD.
When you check a Saudi visa through Muqeem, Absher or the visa.mofa.gov.sa portal, the result shows one of several states. "Valid" means the visa is active and you can travel or remain as permitted. "Issued" on a new application means it is approved but has not yet been used to enter. "Expired" means the validity date has passed โ entry on that visa is no longer possible. "Cancelled" or "Final exit" means the sponsor has ended the visa, and overstay fines may be accruing.
Two dates confuse most travellers. The validity is the window during which you may enter the Kingdom (for example, a one-year multiple tourist visa). The duration of stay is how long you may remain per entry or in total (90 days per year on the tourist eVisa). An exit re-entry visa likewise has an expiry date โ returning after it, even by one day, can lead to refusal at the border.
